IntoArt - Exploring Collections, Field Recording and Sound
IntoArt’s revolutionary, alternative art school and pioneering studio programme champions equity, leadership & visibility of learning disabled and autistic artists, designers and makers.
For this ongoing project, funded by AHRC Impact Acceleration account and Teesside University, curator George Vasey commissioned Sally and Steve to work with IntoArt’s award winning artists to explore the expressive possibilities of sound within their own practice.
Conducting a series of sound art workshops at both IntoArt’s studio base in Peckham and at MIMA in Teesside the artists are experimenting with sound recording technology and theory, and learning how field recording, sound sculpture and sonorous play can be utilised to express the artist’s voice. Potential outputs are exhibitions of the resulting sound works, alternative audio guides and collaborations.
