For the 2023 Between the Tides Festival (Redcar, 26-27th August), A Man Called Adam were commissioned by Tees Valley Festival Volunteering to create a community soundwork. Collaborating with local community members through a series of workshops, the resulting sound-work was shared during the festival through solar-powered speakers placed around Redcar Boating Lake.

In the first workshop, Sally and Steve introduced participants to deep listening techniques and the artistic repurposing of everyday sounds. The group then explored Redcar with portable recorders, capturing the town's distinctive soundscape—from bingo callers and sea birds to weather sounds and conversations—to build an authentic sonic portrait of the town and its community.

The second workshop focused on creative writing and recording, with participants working to express their personal experiences while also imagining non-human perspectives. This collaborative approach brought together diverse voices and viewpoints to strengthen community bonds through shared artistic creation.
